Standard microchip scanning

Equipass enables fast and reliable horse identification through its integrated scanning feature, which is compatible with selected industry-standard microchip readers. Veterinarians and authorised users can instantly access a horse’s verified Equipass record, ensuring accurate identification, particularly in clinical, competition, and travel settings where quick and precise identification is essential.

Thermal microchip scanning

Equipass also supports thermal microchip readers, adding an additional layer of health monitoring to the identification process. This dual capability enhances biosecurity, improves efficiency during veterinary checks, and provides timely information to support informed decision-making and horse welfare.

How to use a microchip reader with Equipass

Equipass makes horse identification simple and efficient through its integrated microchip scanning feature:
  1. Open the Equipass app on your device and navigate to the horse identification section.
  2. Scan the horse’s microchip using a compatible industry-standard reader. A selected number of microchip readers are currently supported, with additional readers to be made available at a later stage.
  3. Instantly access the horse’s record. Once scanned, the horse’s verified Equipass record appears in the app, providing immediate access to identification details, health records, and other authorised information.
